Data use

Privacy policy

This policy explains the information involved when you use CiteCheckup and the external services needed to complete a page check.

What you submit

A check includes the target page URL, a brand, a target topic, and a human-verification token. These inputs are used to retrieve the requested page, run the audit, and—only when the optional feature is enabled—request an AI search snapshot.

External services involved

Jina Reader

The target URL is sent to r.jina.ai so the service can extract readable page content. If that path does not return usable content, CiteCheckup may attempt a direct fetch of the target URL.

Cloudflare Turnstile

Cloudflare Turnstile performs human verification before a check is accepted. The verification token is sent to Cloudflare for validation.

OpenAI API

When the optional AI search snapshot is enabled, the submitted brand and topic are used in prompts sent to the OpenAI API, or to the site operator's configured OpenAI-compatible API gateway. If the feature is not enabled, those prompts are not sent to either service.

Scan results

CiteCheckup does not store scan results in a database. Results are returned to the requesting browser for that check.

Cookies

CiteCheckup does not use tracking cookies. External services may process technical information under their own privacy terms when their features are used.
