Data use
Privacy policy
Plain English explanation of what information CiteCheckup uses, which external services are involved, and what we don't do with your data.
What you send us
Each audit requires a public page URL and a human-verification token. Brand and topic are optional advanced overrides. The submitted URL, optional overrides, and public page data are processed transiently only to produce the requested audit.
Security, analytics, and advertising services
Human verification
We use Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm you're a person, not a bot. A verification token is sent to Cloudflare for validation.
Analytics
When configured, Google Analytics 4 records page views and basic product events. Analytics never receives the submitted target URL, public page content, optional brand or topic, report evidence, fixes, or Schema values as custom event data.
Advertising
Adsterra provides fixed, Native Banner, and Social Bar advertising. CiteCheckup does not configure its ad tags with submitted target URLs, retrieved page content, optional brand or topic fields, report evidence, fixes, or Schema values.
What happens to your results
Audit data is processed transiently, and there is no server report database or server-side report history. For convenience, the last 10 reports can be retained only in the current browser. Local entries may include the URL, scores, evidence, and fixes. Clear removes those reports from the current browser.
Cookies & tracking
CiteCheckup uses a cookie to remember your language preference. Google Analytics 4, Adsterra and its advertising partners, and other external services may process cookies, identifiers, or technical data under their own privacy policies.
Advertising services
CiteCheckup loads Adsterra advertising through fixed banner and Native Banner placements, plus a global Social Bar. Adsterra and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, device and browser information, network data, and activity on this site to deliver, measure, personalize, and protect advertising where permitted.
CiteCheckup does not configure Adsterra tags with the target URL you submit for an audit, retrieved page content, optional brand or topic fields, report evidence, fixes, or Schema values. Advertising scripts still receive technical request data such as the current CiteCheckup page URL, referrer, IP address, and browser information when they load.
Fixed and Native placements carry a visible advertisement label and stay separate from checker controls and editorial conclusions. Social Bar runs in the top page and is a third-party script trust boundary.
For details about Adsterra's data practices, read Adsterra Privacy Policy.
