About CiteCheckup
CiteCheckup is a free page audit. It reviews one public URL and shows what is working, what could not be checked, and what to fix first.
What it is
A check for pages that are hard to crawl or understand
It reviews one public page across four categories: crawl and index access, machine-readable structure, content and sources, and publisher details. The same 30 checks are used for every page.
What it is not
An AI visibility tracker
CiteCheckup does not query ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews. Its score cannot predict or guarantee a mention, ranking, or citation.
Why we built it
Page quality and AI search visibility are different questions. CiteCheckup focuses on the page itself because those problems can be found and fixed.
The scoring rules are public, and each report shows the page details behind its result.
How a check works
1. You submit a page
Enter a public URL and complete the human verification. Brand and topic are optional advanced overrides when you want to replace the detected values.
2. We inspect the public page
CiteCheckup reads the page response, metadata, headings, body copy, links, robots.txt, and structured data. Anything it cannot retrieve is marked Unknown instead of failed.
3. We score four dimensions
The 30 checks are grouped into four categories worth 100 points. The score and the amount of the page we could verify are shown separately.
4. You get the report
The report returns immediately with no server report database. Your current browser can retain the last 10 reports for convenience, and Clear removes them.

Who publishes CiteCheckup
CiteCheckup is maintained by the CiteCheckup editorial and engineering team as an independent web utility. We build the retrieval, rule checks, public tools, and research records shown on this site. CiteCheckup is not affiliated with Google or any AI provider.
We publish under the organization name because the work combines software maintenance, content review, and data analysis. Questions and corrections go to contact@citecheckup.com and are reviewed against the affected page, code, or source record.
How we publish and correct content
Use primary sources
Technical guidance links to standards, official product documentation, or original research whenever those sources exist. Interpretation is labeled separately from observed evidence.
Keep claims reproducible
Rules are deterministic, unknown evidence is not converted into a failure, and research pages retain samples, validation methods, limitations, and downloadable results.
Correct the visible record
Confirmed factual, calculation, or attribution errors are corrected on the affected page. Material research corrections also update the downloadable record and visible update date.
Funding and editorial independence
The checker and educational content are free to use. CiteCheckup uses clearly separated display advertising, but advertisers do not choose checks, weights, findings, research samples, or editorial conclusions.
We do not sell guaranteed citations, paid score changes, or undisclosed placement in guides. If a commercial relationship affects content in the future, it will be disclosed on the affected page.
